My daughters have discovered the Internet. They are fascinated by the fact that others can see my website and blog and that *their* photos appear occasionally. On a lazy Sunday a few weeks ago, this particular fact made them particularly giddy. They even asked ME to take their photos and create a blog post. They usually run from me or ask for treats or money in return for a few poses. But this day was different. I did not have to bribe them or pay them. They told me they wanted to be famous. Here you go, summer girls.

My nephew came for a visit recently and my daughters were giddy with excitement the whole time. They just adore him (and one of them has told me on several occasions she’s going to marry him!) I bribed the three of them by telling them we’d get snowballs if they let me do a mini-session in one of my favorite spots. We were there no more than 10 minutes when they all started complaining about the heat and wondering if and when they would ever see a tasty, cool treat. I could have stayed hours photographing these cuties, but I’m still really happy with what we got in such a short time. After our very mini mini-session we drove to the famous Bob’s Taco Station and finally got our delicious treats. I don’t think I’ll have any problem bribing them again. I’m originally from Louisiana, home of serious snowballs, and I can tell you Bob’s makes some of the best. Now if my daughter keeps insisting on marrying her cousin, we might have to move back to Louisiana. At least that’s what my brother says. Just kidding! – I love my home state.

Whew, finished editing this session today and had to post a few more of my favorites. I don’t know if it’s just me, but boy have the last two weeks been busy. I am ready for some relaxing summer days for sure. Now back to the photos. I could photograph these boys all day long. It would be quite a workout, but so much fun. Just look at that blonde hair and those eyes!

Boys, boys, boys! Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing this sweet family with three boys. They attend the same school as my girls and are just the cutest. Look at those beautiful eyes. We tried out a new location and I was so very happy to find a huge red barn door. Can’t tell you how much I love a red door! Some of the elements were working against us (major wind!) but I think we made the most of it. I just started editing so there’s more to come…

I’ve been doing a little updating to the blog photo journal and I hope you like the new look. It may not seem that much different, but it’s so much easier for me use and will save me tons of time. Time that I will hopefully spend taking more pictures to post here. Enjoy this beautiful spring day. Here’s one more from a recent session that I just love. Now I’m off to celebrate this accomplishment with a very tall iced coffee.

Ok, I’m not from Texas. I think this is part of the reason I didn’t understand the complete fascination Texans have with bluebonnets. Sure they are pretty. But holding up traffic, parking on the side of the road and jumping over a barbed wire fence to take the same photos everyone else has didn’t really appeal to me. This year I thought I would give it a try and join the herds of people. I was even going to do one better and attend The Bluebonnet Festival! In my mind the Bluebonnet Festival consists of fields of these beauties (untrampled and easily accessible), music, dancing, artists and of course excellent food. So last weekend we head to Chapel Hill, TX for our first festival. You are probably guessing what’s coming next. Of course things are never quite how you picture them in your head. There were artists and food and rides for the kids, but the majority of this festival consists of shopping. Lots of shopping. Rows and rows of shopping. Up and down streets of shopping. No untrampled and easily accessible fields to be found. After a few hours of walking and shopping, we decide to head back to the highway and join the herds. It was still another hour until we made our way out of the parking lot. We FINALLY got to our photo destination. Although the festival wasn’t as expected, the town of Chapel Hill is beautiful and I’d love to do some sessions there. Here are my favorites from the day. The bluebonnets have won me over and I am looking forward to them again next year. I may even become a real Texan after all.

I did not post the photo of my dear husband wearing a pink sun hat, carrying a camera bag and holding a reflector. I love him that much (it was a really good photo!)

I met this beautiful family at my favorite park this past weekend. They were referred to me by one of my most favorite (and adorable) clients so I already knew they’d be pretty cool. One of the little ones wasn’t feeling well and our session got off to a bit of a rough start. But since they were in town for just a short time, I knew we had to keep going. And keep going we did! They were so patient and kind, every single one of them. I’m grateful they stuck it out because I think we got some amazing shots. Here’s a little sneak peak at some of my favorites.

I’m always on the lookout for a new location. I have dreams of buying a piece of land with an old barn and a pond and a bridge and …well the list goes on and on. My land would also need to have a field of some kind with tall grass or maybe wildflowers. Until that dream comes together, I will just have to continue finding beautiful places like the one in the photos below. I certainly didn’t have to look far. This patch of yellow wildflowers just happens to be one block from my house. How cool is that? But I still need someone to photograph in this glorious field! It’s a good thing I know these two beautiful little ladies (and I am lucky enough to be their mom which is a very good thing.) I paid them each a dollar to model for me. Now I can brag that my kids are professional models, right?

I really and truly do not like cold weather at all. Not even a little bit. The past winter has felt like the longest and coldest ever. I am beyond excited to say goodbye to winter and hello to a beautiful spring! The sun is shining and the birds are singing right outside of my window. This makes me happy. I have been a busy bee lately and am almost ready to introduce a new website and new simplified pricing. Check back soon! I can’t have a post without some photos so here are some awesome seniors. And hopefully it’s warm and sunny where you are.
